Starting therapy can bring up a mix of emotions: fear, hope, stress, and even excitement. If you're navigating anxiety, depression, loss, relationship challenges, stress, or trauma, I’m here to support you in working toward healing and growth.

As a psychotherapist, I bring warmth and compassion to our sessions, creating a space where you feel safe and heard. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is the most important part of the healing process. I show up with authenticity and empathy, knowing from personal experience how difficult, but also how transformative, therapy can be. My own journey with anxiety led me to do the work myself, and I deeply respect the courage it takes to begin.

I provide trauma-informed care and take a non-judgmental, client-centred approach. I draw on evidence-based methods, often exploring tools from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), to support your unique needs, while always emphasizing your strengths and resilience.

My professional experience, including my work with a non-profit organization that delivers mental health workshops to students, educators, and parents, has further shaped my understanding of how relationships, coping strategies, and self-awareness contribute to well-being.

My areas of focus include:

-depression

-anxiety

-issues related to relationships

-issues related to family dynamics

-stress management

-self-harm

-difficulties regulating emotions

-borderline personality disorder

-youth/adolescent issues

Together, we’ll move at your pace, working toward the goals that matter most to you in a space grounded in trust, safety, and genuine connection.

You do not need to have it all figured out to start healing.  If you are feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or struggling in any way, I am here to support you and be a part of your journey.

My name is Kristen Parselias. I am a psychotherapist dedicated to creating an empathetic and safe space for you to find yourself, and for us to navigate through the difficulties you may be experiencing. My interests lie in the well-being of clients and has driven me to want to make a positive impact in the lives of people I am working with.

I am well-versed with evidence-based practices focusing on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). These two approaches can be used interchangeably, and is helpful if you are experiencing life transitions, relationship problems, emotion regulation issues, and many more stressors that we often experience. I am trained in Level 1 and Level 2 of the Gottman Method, which is helpful for any communication and relationship issues. I understand that one approach does not fit all, and I will take the time to understand you and work collaboratively to support your needs effectively.

I have experience providing psychotherapy for couples and individuals. I have a special interest in working with youth with disabilities. My array of experience has helped to shape my understanding of the difficulties that individuals face every day.

My areas of focus include:

-anxiety

-issues related to relationships

As a queer and trans man, I know first-hand how vulnerable it can feel sharing certain parts of yourself with others. I strive to create a space where you can explore all aspects of your identity and be your most authentic self.

Throughout my career, I have supported people across the lifespan and in a variety of settings including the housing and shelter system, post-secondary schools, and emergency and outpatient hospital settings. In working with clients, I take an integrative approach, drawing on experience with cognitive behavioural models (such as cognitive behavioural therapy and dialectical behavioural therapy), narrative therapy, and emotion-focused therapy. I have additional training in cognitive processing therapy for trauma, cognitive behavioural therapy for psychosis, and in working with substance use and addictions.

My areas of focus include:

-anxiety

-depression

-mood disorders

-psychosis (eg. delusional beliefs and/or hallucinations)

-self-harm

-suicidality

-issues related to being 2SLGBTQ+

-issues related to substance use and addictions

Whether you are just starting your therapy journey, or looking to connect with someone new, I am grateful to be on this journey with you!
