What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about your current concerns, relevant history, goals, and what you hope to gain from the process. You’ll also have the chance to ask questions and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit.
Do I need to be in crisis to start therapy?
Not at all. Many people come to therapy because they want support, insight, personal growth, or healthier ways of coping with life’s challenges. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.
How long does therapy take?
The length of therapy varies depending on your goals, needs, and preferences. Some clients attend for a short period focused on a specific concern, while others choose longer-term therapy for deeper exploration and ongoing support.
How often do sessions take place?
Some people attend weekly, some bi-weekly, some monthly. After our initial meeting, we decide together what a good frequency will be.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is an important part of therapy. Information shared in sessions is kept private, with a few legal and ethical exceptions, such as concerns related to safety or situations where disclosure is required by law.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. Virtual therapy sessions are available for clients located in Ontario. Online sessions are conducted through a secure and confidential platform.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
Matt Eldridge offers in-person sessions on Thursdays at 151 Harbord Street. Alternate days/times can be offered in the Liberty Village area if Thursdays are inconvenient for you.
What are your fees?
Fees vary by therapist. Please reach out for information about our fees.
Do you offer sliding scale or reduced-fee sessions?
Interns and certain therapists are able to provide sliding scale/reduced fee services. Please reach out for more details.
Is psychotherapy covered by insurance?
Many extended health benefit plans cover psychotherapy or social work services. Coverage varies depending on your provider and plan. Clients are encouraged to check directly with their insurance provider regarding eligibility, reimbursement amounts, and whether services provided by a Registered Social Worker or psychotherapist are covered.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit cards and e-transfers.
What therapeutic approaches do you use?
Therapy is collaborative and tailored to your individual needs. Depending on your goals and preferences, approaches may include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), EMDR, emotionally-focused couples' therapy (EFCT), relational therapy, and trauma-informed practices.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be helpful if you are feeling overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, disconnected, uncertain, or simply wanting a space to better understand yourself and your experiences. It can also support personal growth, relationships, coping skills, and overall well-being.
What if I’ve never been to therapy before?
That’s completely okay. Starting therapy can feel unfamiliar or vulnerable at first. You are not expected to know exactly what to say or how therapy “should” work. The process is collaborative, and we move at a pace that feels manageable and supportive for you.
Can I book a free consultation?
